Job description

In this commercial, fast-paced role you will be building relationships with a range of suppliers across wide and varied product categories, from wholesalers and traders to globally recognised brand owners such as L’Oréal, Reckitt Benckiser, Johnson and Johnson and Kellogg’s. You will be tailoring your approach, from securing clearance stock as one-off deals to negotiating and agreeing longer term brand partnerships, distributing into major UK retailers. You will be instrumental in supporting the business in becoming the first-choice distribution partner for brand owners and customers across the world.

Responsibilities 

  • Partnering with a Buyer, building and managing effective supplier relationships via calls, email and meetings with a goal of maximising commercial opportunities for Pricecheck.
  • Prospecting new suppliers - Carry out market research online and instore, identifying any gaps in brands/products. Keep up to date with current trends via social media/influencers/emerging brands.
  • Managing your own supplier accounts – allowing you to develop the skills required to have a successful career in buying.
  • Prepare attractive brand and product presentations to collaborate with our large sales team and their customers.
  • Providing insights of the category performance through reporting and proactively providing feedback to your buyer. Analysing category performance and highlighting any slow selling lines, creating an effective plan with your buyer to move stock efficiently through the business.
  • Assist the Buyer with day-to-day tasks and assistant in preparations for trade shows and meetings.
  • Covering your buyer/s in their absence; Monitoring their inbox, communicating with the suppliers to ensure they are not awaiting feedback and analysing offers and signing off with buying director/Senior buyers.

  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office (including working knowledge of spreadsheets)
  • A passion for learning and a desire to succeed
  • Successful candidates must live within a commutable distance
  • Educated to graduate level preferred
