Working within the Buying team, your role as a Buyer has two main objectives; to build and maintain excellent supplier relationships, and to ensure that Pricecheck stocks the best products at the best prices, ensuring it works for our business and customers. The difference between whether you are a Junior Buyer or a Buyer is based upon tenure in the position, the accounts you are responsibility for and the exposure you have had to all elements of the Buying position.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsibility of a large annual budget of approximately, sourcing products across various categories within the beauty department
• Build and maintain exceptional relationships with your designated supplier base.
• Analyse and prepare offers from your suppliers to present to the buying director for sign off.
• Manage the full buying process; ensuring that pricing, delivery, and terms of business are all negotiated competitively.
• Managing stock into the business; ensuring it arrives on time and as expected.
• Managing stock out of the business by preparing offers for the sales team to utilise when speaking to their customers as well as presenting new regular distribution brands to the sales floor.
• Coming up with effective exit plans for slower selling stock whilst still trying to maintain sufficient margin.
• Liaise with other departments within the organisation i.e., Finance department regarding payment of suppliers, Sales department regarding selling of stock, IT to improve systems and processes.
• Driving business development by making initial contact with potential new suppliers and brands and populating their data into our supplier relationship database
• Gain a solid understanding of the market and our customers’ requirements.
• Manage and visit existing key suppliers.
• Representing Pricecheck at trade fairs in the UK and overseas.
