Overview

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to kick-start their career in a commercial role within the FMCG sector. During your placement, you’ll be exposed to the entire sales process, including relationship management, negotiation, and business development.

You’ll move flexibly around the trading floor, supporting different teams and functions within the business. You will play an integral part in opening new business and nurturing existing accounts while working closely with the Sales and Business Development teams. You’ll help adapt our ever-changing product list to meet customer needs, ensuring the right products are offered at the right price.

As a natural multi-tasker, you’ll thrive in this fast-paced environment. Your ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks will be key to your success. You will embrace challenges, be eager to learn, and bring your own unique approach to each task you take on.

Length of Placement - 1 Year minimum starting June/July 2025

Office Based - S20 1DJ

What you'll be doing

  • Work across the trading floor, supporting various departments and covering different territories as part of your training.
  • Build and nurture relationships with our customer base, helping to drive sales and create long-term partnerships.
  • Convert leads into active customers, playing an active role in opening new business and expanding existing accounts.
  • Work closely with your International Account Manager to identify and secure new business opportunities.
  • Conduct market and customer research to proactively identify new areas for growth.
  • Coordinate national and international travel for your International Account Manager.
  • Be strategic in your approach, keeping an analytical focus throughout each day.
  • Achieve your KPIs, including meeting telephone call targets and opening new accounts.
  • Get involved in charity initiatives, supporting our company’s community-driven efforts.

What we're looking for

  • Currently studying a business-related degree with a sandwich year.
  • An interest in working in a sales environment within an international business.
  • A strong willingness to learn and adapt from those around you.
  • Flexible and able to prioritise tasks in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Confident working under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
  • Ability to adapt to change and work across different areas of the business.
  • A team player with initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
  • Language skills are a bonus but not essential.
