Job description

From conducting thorough research to identify new opportunities including customers and suppliers, you will help contribute towards our ambitious growth targets of £200 million by 2026. You will use a variety of sources such as news articles, companies house, portals and websites to research the opportunities extensively. The research will be added to our CRM system and a lead will be created for our Business Development Executives to make the initial call. You will be responsible for researching our customer website signups where you will grade the opportunity based on your research.

As you will be managing your own projects such as buying projects, projects on our distribution brands and specific market/sector research, you will be disciplined, organised and methodical in your approach. The role is varied and becomes what you make it – you will be in prime position to learn all about the business and our trading functions, enabling you to be involved in a wide range of activity and in time, focusing on the areas that encourage you to work to your strengths.

Covering Sales Support is key during holidays and busy periods. From working along side an International Account Manager, your sales knowledge and commercial awareness will flourish. When covering, you will be putting together stock lists, processing orders and communicating with customers.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Actioning a variety of research projects and identifying new opportunities
  • Researching current companies we trade with, (customers and suppliers), identifying opportunities for growth and increased business
  • Understanding research techniques, thinking innovatively with strong awareness of how to support in a commercial setting
  • Working alongside the Business Development Administrators to maintain consistency and accurately record/ update information on our CRM database
  • Reviewing and implementing processes to ensure efficiency within the department
  • Conducting market research and store visits
  • Providing consistent cover to our sales support team, supporting the International Account Managers and adding greater understanding of the sales function. This in turn will help to improve proficiencies within Business Development, align priorities and achieve mutual goals.
  • Attending trade shows, assisting with the set up and preparation of equipment
  • Attending industry events to gain market insight
  • You will be required to cover the Sales Support roles during holidays and busy periods. This means you will need to be adaptable and confident speaking on the phone.

Essential requirements

  • 2.1 Degree or equivalent with strong A Levels/ experience within a similar role
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • You will be a confident communicator and work with clarity and tenacity to see ideas through to fruition 
  • Ability to follow instruction and work well as part of a team, but also use your initiative to question and seek out better ways of doing things
  • You will be disciplined, organised, and self-motivated with a methodical approach
  • Have a keen eye for detail but appreciation for the bigger picture and long-term strategy.
